Editorial standards: how this site is checked
Every page here carries specific, checkable claims — a price band, a time on site, postcode districts, council area, trunk roads. Those are the parts that can go stale or be wrong, so this is how they are maintained and how to tell us when they are not.
Where each fact comes from
| Prices and times on site | Job records held by Fuel Fixer Ltd, reviewed quarterly against actual invoices |
|---|---|
| Postcode districts | UK postcode district to locality data, per settlement |
| Council areas and boundaries | Ordnance Survey Boundary-Line council areas, © Crown copyright |
| Map pin positions | Electoral ward centroids — indicative position only, not a surveyed location |
| Trunk roads and access notes | Attending technicians and Traffic Scotland route data |
| Waste and disposal rules | SEPA guidance for Scotland |
| Reviews | Collected independently by Reviews.co.uk and Google; published unedited |
What we deliberately do not publish
We do not publish precise coordinates for settlements. The only positional data available to us is an electoral ward centroid, which is accurate enough to place a pin on a national map and nowhere near accurate enough to state as the location of a town — for a place like Oban, whose ward includes offshore islands, it is out by tens of kilometres. Publishing it as a coordinate would be false precision, so the map shows an approximate position and says so.
We do not publish an aggregate review score unless the review count behind it is real and current. An invented count is a structured-data violation that applies across a whole domain, and self-serving ratings have not earned rich-result stars since 2019 in any case.

How a booking works
Every job starts with a phone call to 01295 380724. The operator confirms the vehicle, the fuels involved, whether the engine was started and your location, then quotes a price. Nothing is charged and no technician travels until you accept that price. Because the work is carried out at the roadside, on a forecourt, at your home or at your workplace rather than in a garage, the technician needs safe, legal access to the vehicle and the keys. If the vehicle sits on private land, the landowner’s permission is your responsibility. For island and remote Highland jobs the arrival window is given as a sailing or a travel time and the quoted price already includes that travel.
What is included in the price
The quoted price covers attendance, the drain of the contaminated fuel, a flush of the fuel lines, a nominal amount of clean fuel to get the vehicle running, a start-and-check, and the removal of the contaminated fuel for compliant disposal. Fuel-system parts, filters, injectors and any recovery to a garage are quoted separately if the vehicle was driven far enough to need them. Vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, plant, agricultural machinery and boats are quoted per job.
Waste fuel and the environment
The fuel drained from your vehicle or uplifted from your tank is a controlled waste. In Scotland this is regulated by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) rather than the Environment Agency. The waste leaves the site with the technician, a waste transfer note is issued on site, and the fuel is processed for recycling through licensed channels. Duty-of-care documentation is available on request. Fuel Fixer Ltd operates to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 and holds waste-carrier registration.
Data we hold
To attend a job we take your name, phone number, location and vehicle details, and we keep a record of the work carried out. Calls may be recorded for quality and training purposes. Analytics on this site are collected through Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4 in aggregate. You can ask for a copy of the data held about you, or ask for it to be deleted, by calling 01295 380724 or writing to the registered office above; the full detail is in the Fuel Fixer privacy policy.
