Since the 2022 reform stripped many sectors of the entitlement, a lot of businesses have been left holding stock they can no longer legally burn — and the dye stains any tank it sits in. Disposal of red diesel is handled as hazardous waste like any diesel, but the documentation carries extra weight: the transfer note is evidence for HMRC as well as the environmental regulator that rebated stock was disposed of and not diverted. The point of disposal is provability. The red diesel ends up at a permitted facility, handled under environmental rules, and the transfer note records the whole movement as your evidence. For disposal, the licensed route and the documentation are the job. Fuel collected in Alloway is taken to a permitted facility, recovered or destroyed, and logged on a transfer note you keep as compliance evidence. ## Local Scottish red diesel disposal in Alloway: the facts Fuel | Red diesel | Service | Collection and licensed disposal | Council area | South Ayrshire | Postcode districts | KA7 | Why it degrades | Ages like diesel, plus a legal marker dye that stains tanks | Typical sources | Farms, plant, generators, bowsers, decommissioned tanks, closing businesses | Classification | Hazardous waste — waste transfer note issued | Regulator | SEPA | Typical cost | Quoted per litre | Attendance | Collected and disposed of under licence | Helpline | 01295 380724 | ## Where red diesel comes from around Alloway Around Alloway the red diesel we collect and dispose of comes from estates and large gardens clearing old gas-oil stock from mowers, generators and heating plant. A registered carrier attends home, farm, depot, marina and commercial sites, pumps out the red diesel and issues a waste transfer note on site. **Can you clear a tank so it is dye-free?** We remove the red diesel and can clean the tank so it is fit to hold road diesel again. Any residual dye is dealt with as part of the tank clean. **Will I get paperwork for HMRC?** You get a waste transfer note recording what was collected and where it went. That is your evidence of compliant disposal for both HMRC and the regulator. **Do you take contaminated red diesel?** Yes — rebated fuel spoiled by water, sludge or bug is collected and disposed of the same way as any contaminated diesel, with documentation. **How is the price worked out?** Per litre against the volume and access, quoted before travel. Give us the rough litres in the tank or bowser when you call. ### One operator, four sites Fuel Fixer Scotland is the Scottish arm of Fuel Fixer Ltd.
