It oxidises and gums, it waxes and gels in the cold, and any water it has picked up breeds the bug that furs up filters. It is also hazardous waste, so it cannot be tipped away. Bulk and bowser volumes are routine. Whether it is a few hundred litres in a standby generator or a few thousand in a farm tank, the collection is booked against the volume and the access rather than turned away for size. Once lifted, the diesel is disposed of through a licensed route — recovered where it can be, destroyed where it cannot — and every step is captured on the waste transfer note you keep. Disposal is not just removal — it is provable removal. The waste from Wester Hailes Edinburgh reaches a licensed facility, and the transfer note documents the chain so that duty of care sits with paperwork rather than with your word. ## Local Scottish old diesel disposal in Wester Hailes Edinburgh: the facts Fuel | Old diesel | Service | Collection and licensed disposal | Council area | City of Edinburgh | Postcode districts | EH14 | Why it degrades | Oxidises, drops sediment and grows diesel bug where water is present | Typical sources | Farm tanks, generators, plant, HGVs, boats, bowsers, bulk stores | Classification | Hazardous waste — waste transfer note issued | Regulator | SEPA | Typical cost | Quoted per litre | Attendance | Collected and disposed of under licence | Helpline | 01295 380724 | ## Where old diesel comes from around Wester Hailes Edinburgh Most of the old diesel we collect and dispose of near Wester Hailes Edinburgh originates in standby and rental gensets taken out of service, and pump and compressor sets sold on. A registered carrier attends home, farm, depot, marina and commercial sites, pumps out the old diesel and issues a waste transfer note on site. **Can contaminated diesel be cleaned instead of removed?** Polishing can recover lightly contaminated diesel, but heavily bugged or watered fuel is usually removed and the tank cleaned. We can advise once we know the state of it. **Will you empty a farm or bulk tank?** Yes — domestic, farm, estate and commercial bulk tanks, bowsers and drums. Give us the volume in litres and the access and you get a price and a slot before we travel. **Do you clean the tank as well?** We remove the fuel and can arrange a tank clean where the bug or sludge means the vessel needs it before reuse. Tell us the condition when you call. **How quickly can old diesel be collected?** Often the same day for accessible sites, otherwise a booked slot. The quote and window are confirmed before anyone travels. ### One operator, four sites Fuel Fixer Scotland is the Scottish arm of Fuel Fixer Ltd.
