When the tank has to be emptied, the old oil is hazardous waste. Volume ranges from the dregs in a nearly empty tank to a recently filled 1,000-litre store. Either is collected; the quote follows the litres and the access. Disposal closes the loop: the collected kerosene reaches a permitted facility, is processed or destroyed lawfully, and the transfer note issued on site is your proof it was done right. Getting disposal right is about the destination and the record. The fuel from Silverknowes Edinburgh goes to a permitted facility, is handled under environmental rules, and the transfer note is your audit trail showing it was dealt with lawfully. ## Local Scottish kerosene disposal in Silverknowes Edinburgh: the facts Fuel | Kerosene | Service | Collection and licensed disposal | Council area | City of Edinburgh | Why it degrades | Grows water sludge and bacteria over time; fouls the boiler nozzle | Typical sources | Home heating tanks, decommissioning, boiler upgrades, house sales, estates | Classification | Hazardous waste — waste transfer note issued | Regulator | SEPA | Typical cost | Quoted per litre | Attendance | Collected and disposed of under licence | Helpline | 01295 380724 | ## Where kerosene comes from around Silverknowes Edinburgh Across Silverknowes Edinburgh and its surroundings we collect and dispose of kerosene from holiday lets and second homes taken off oil heating, and tanks left by previous owners. A registered carrier attends home, farm, depot, marina and commercial sites, pumps out the kerosene and issues a waste transfer note on site. **Can I empty my own oil tank?** It is safer and cleaner to have it pumped out by a registered carrier, especially as the oil is hazardous waste that cannot be tipped away. You also get a transfer note. **Do you decommission the tank too?** We pump out and remove the kerosene and can advise on or arrange tank cleaning and decommissioning. Tell us what you need when you call. **How much notice do you need?** Often a collection can be booked quickly; the window is confirmed with the quote before anyone travels. Access and volume set the timing. **Will you take contaminated kerosene?** Yes — water-logged, sludged or bacterially spoiled kerosene is collected and disposed of the same way, with documentation. ### One operator, four sites Fuel Fixer Scotland is the Scottish arm of Fuel Fixer Ltd.
