Water from condensation or a failed cap sinks below it and breeds a bacterial sludge; the fuel itself oxidises and can gel in deep cold. Any of that fouls the boiler. Kerosene and heating oil are used loosely to mean the same thing, but strictly kerosene is the 28-second grade most homes burn, while heating oil also covers 35-second gas oil for some older or agricultural boilers. We collect either. Disposal is what keeps you clean under duty-of-care rules: the kerosene goes to a permitted facility rather than anywhere convenient, and the transfer note proves where it went and when. For disposal, the licensed route and the documentation are the job. Fuel collected in Muirhouse Edinburgh is taken to a permitted facility, recovered or destroyed, and logged on a transfer note you keep as compliance evidence. ## Local Scottish kerosene disposal in Muirhouse Edinburgh: the facts Fuel | Kerosene | Service | Collection and licensed disposal | Council area | City of Edinburgh | Why it degrades | Grows water sludge and bacteria over time; fouls the boiler nozzle | Typical sources | Home heating tanks, decommissioning, boiler upgrades, house sales, estates | Classification | Hazardous waste — waste transfer note issued | Regulator | SEPA | Typical cost | Quoted per litre | Attendance | Collected and disposed of under licence | Helpline | 01295 380724 | ## Where kerosene comes from around Muirhouse Edinburgh We collect and dispose of kerosene across Muirhouse Edinburgh from leaking or corroded tanks emptied before repair, replacement or removal.
