Condensation feeds a sludge and bacterial layer beneath the fuel, the oil oxidises, and the tank itself can corrode from the water sitting in it. The typical trigger is a heating change — oil to heat pump or gas — that strands a tank of oil. Removing it is quick once accessible, and the transfer note shows the tank was cleared for a sale or an estate. The point of disposal is provability. The heating oil ends up at a permitted facility, handled under environmental rules, and the transfer note records the whole movement as your evidence. The compliance value of proper disposal is the record. The fuel leaves Invergordon for a permitted facility, and the transfer note captures the movement — the difference between disposed of and merely gone. ## Local Scottish heating oil disposal in Invergordon: the facts Fuel | Heating oil | Service | Collection and licensed disposal | Council area | Highland | Postcode districts | IV18 | Why it degrades | Kerosene or gas oil; collects water, sludge and bacteria and corrodes tanks | Typical sources | Tank decommissioning, heating changes, contamination, sales, spills, estates | Classification | Hazardous waste — waste transfer note issued | Regulator | SEPA | Typical cost | Quoted per litre | Attendance | Collected and disposed of under licence | Helpline | 01295 380724 | ## Where heating oil comes from around Invergordon We collect and dispose of heating oil across Invergordon from farm, estate and small commercial heating-oil stores being cleared or downsized.
