Fuel Fixer Scotland is a Scottish operator and does not run collection vehicles in Down — we take the details and connect you with a licensed local carrier who handles heating oil disposal covering Downpatrick. [Call 01295 380724 — we will connect you locally](tel:+441295380724) ### Ireland — how this works Fuel Fixer Scotland is a Scottish operator. We do not run our own vans in Down, so we do not pretend to: what we do is take the call, work out exactly what has gone into which tank, and put you straight through to a wrong-fuel drainer covering Downpatrick. The advice on this page is the same either side of the Irish Sea, because the mechanics are: do not start the engine, do not move the vehicle, and get the wrong fluid out before anything is run through the system. That part does not change with the jurisdiction. What does change is the waste regulator — in Ireland that is the [EPA](https://www.epa.ie/) and the local authority, not SEPA — and the drainer who attends will issue their own paperwork. Call 01295 380724 and say where you are. If we cannot get someone to you, we will tell you that on the phone rather than take a booking we cannot keep. **Scottish-owned** Scottish-owned and Scottish-run, working every council area from the Borders to Shetland. Condensation feeds a sludge and bacterial layer beneath the fuel, the oil oxidises, and the tank itself can corrode from the water sitting in it. The typical trigger is a heating change — oil to heat pump or gas — that strands a tank of oil. Removing it is quick once accessible, and the transfer note shows the tank was cleared for a sale or an estate. Proper disposal means a permitted end point and a documented trail. The heating oil is taken to a licensed facility for recovery or safe destruction, and the transfer note is your record of compliant disposal. The disposal end matters most for compliance. Once lifted in Downpatrick, the fuel is routed to a licensed facility for recovery or destruction, and the paper trail is the point: your duty of care is discharged by evidence, not assurances. ## Local Irish heating oil disposal in Downpatrick: the facts Fuel | Heating oil | Service | Collection and licensed disposal | County | Down | Country | Ireland | Why it degrades | Kerosene or gas oil; collects water, sludge and bacteria and corrodes tanks | Typical sources | Tank decommissioning, heating changes, contamination, sales, spills, estates | Classification | Hazardous waste — waste transfer note issued | Regulator | NIEA / EPA and local authority, not SEPA | Typical cost | Set by the attending carrier | Attendance | Referred to a licensed carrier covering Downpatrick | Helpline | 01295 380724 | ## Where heating oil comes from around Downpatrick We collect and dispose of heating oil across Downpatrick from old steel tanks rusting from the inside that have to be emptied before removal. They attend, lift the heating oil and dispose of it under the NIEA or EPA and the local authority, and issue the waste transfer note. **Is heating oil hazardous waste?** Yes. It cannot be tipped away, drained or left in a redundant tank. A registered carrier removes it and disposes of it through a permitted facility with a transfer note. **Can you help with a leaking or rusted tank?** We pump out the oil and sludge so a failing tank can be dealt with safely, and can advise on cleaning and decommissioning. Describe the tank when you call. **Do you cover commercial as well as domestic tanks?** Yes — house tanks, bunded commercial stores and farm tanks alike, quoted per litre against the volume and access. **How soon can it be collected?** Often quickly for accessible sites; the window is confirmed with the quote before travel. A leak is treated as more urgent. ### One operator, four sites Fuel Fixer Scotland is the Scottish arm of Fuel Fixer Ltd.
